Google Calendar Cleaning Schedule: Room-by-Room Templates
Complete cleaning schedule templates you can add to Google Calendar today. Daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal tasks organized by room with exact timing.

How Do You Make a Cleaning Schedule in Google Calendar?
Build a cleaning schedule in Google Calendar by creating a dedicated calendar for it, then adding each task at the cadence it actually needs. On a computer, open calendar.google.com, click Add other calendars ("+") next to "Other calendars," choose Create new calendar, name it "Cleaning," and give it a distinct color. Google notes that new calendars can only be created in a browser — the mobile apps cannot do it. Then add daily tidying as repeating Tasks, and weekly, monthly, and seasonal jobs as repeating Events.
Four cadences cover a whole house: daily tasks of 5–10 minutes (beds, counters, dishes), one focus area per weekday (floors Monday, bathrooms Tuesday, and so on), monthly deep cleans grouped on Saturdays, and seasonal jobs every three to six months. The templates below fill in each tier room by room.
A calendar shows when cleaning should happen but records nothing about whether it did. ChoreSplit adds per-person assignment and completion tracking on top, and syncs the schedule to Google Calendar.

What Should Be on a Daily Cleaning Schedule?
A daily cleaning list should hold only what takes five to ten minutes and prevents mess from compounding — beds, counters, dishes, a quick bathroom wipe, and an evening clutter sweep. Anything longer belongs on the weekly list. Set each to repeat Daily.
| Task | Room | Time | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Make beds | Bedroom | 5 min | Morning |
| Wipe kitchen counters | Kitchen | 3 min | After meals |
| Load/unload dishwasher | Kitchen | 10 min | Morning/Evening |
| Quick bathroom wipe-down | Bathroom | 5 min | Evening |
| Pick up clutter | Living areas | 10 min | Evening |
| Take out trash (if full) | Kitchen | 3 min | As needed |
Calendar setup: Create → Task → click "Does not repeat" → Daily. Daily tidying is day-bound rather than clock-bound, so a Task is the better fit than an Event. Note the trade-off: a task fires one notification at its due time, and a task with no time set notifies at 9 AM local — you cannot give it a "30 minutes before" lead the way you can with an event.
What Is a Good Weekly Cleaning Schedule?
A good weekly cleaning schedule assigns one focus area per day rather than stacking everything onto a single cleaning marathon: floors Monday, bathrooms Tuesday, linens Wednesday, laundry Thursday, kitchen appliances Friday, dusting Saturday, and trash Sunday. Each becomes one repeating event on its own day.
Vacuum all floors
Monday • 30 min
Mop hard floors
Monday • 20 min
Deep clean bathrooms
Tuesday • 30 min
Change bed linens
Wednesday • 20 min
Laundry (wash, dry, fold)
Thursday • 60 min
Clean kitchen appliances
Friday • 20 min
Dust all surfaces
Saturday • 25 min
Trash/recycling out
Sunday • 10 min
Calendar setup:create the item on the day you want it to land — the weekly preset anchors to the event's current day — then click "Does not repeat" → Weekly. Use an Eventhere rather than a Task: weekly jobs take real time, and an event can carry up to five reminders set as much as four weeks ahead, which is how you get the "gather supplies an hour before" nudge.
Which Cleaning Tasks Only Need Doing Monthly?
Appliances and surfaces that build up slowly — the oven, the fridge, the microwave, the dishwasher, the washing machine, interior windows, light fixtures, and under the furniture. Grouping them on the first through fourth Saturdays spreads four deep cleans across the month instead of one exhausting day.
| Task | When | Time Needed |
|---|---|---|
| Clean oven | 1st Saturday | 45 min |
| Clean refrigerator | 1st Saturday | 30 min |
| Wash windows (interior) | 2nd Saturday | 45 min |
| Deep clean microwave | 2nd Saturday | 15 min |
| Clean dishwasher | 3rd Saturday | 20 min |
| Wash washing machine | 3rd Saturday | 20 min |
| Vacuum under furniture | 4th Saturday | 30 min |
| Clean light fixtures | 4th Saturday | 25 min |
Calendar setup — use an Event, not a Task:a Google Task only repeats every day, week, month or year, so "the first Saturday of the month" is out of reach. Create the item as an Eventon the Saturday you want, click "Does not repeat," and pick the monthly option — the menu offers the weekday-position variant (for example, the first Saturday) alongside the date-based one.
Which Cleaning Tasks Are Seasonal?
Jobs on a three-to-six-month cycle: carpets and rugs quarterly, mattresses and curtains twice a year, and gutters, outdoor furniture, the garage and the basement in spring and fall. These are the easiest to forget, which is exactly why they belong on a calendar rather than in your head.

Every 3 months
Clean gutters
Spring & Fall
Flip/rotate mattresses
Every 6 months
Clean outdoor furniture

What Does a Room-by-Room Cleaning Schedule Look Like?
Each room has its own daily, weekly, and monthly tier. Reading the schedule this way makes it obvious what to hand to which family member — one person owns the kitchen, another the bathrooms.

Key Takeaways
- Create a separate "Cleaning" calendar with a distinct color — this requires a browser, not the mobile app
- Daily tasks: 5-10 min each, best as repeating Tasks
- Weekly tasks: one focus area per day, best as repeating Events
- Monthly deep cleans must be Events — a Task cannot repeat on "the first Saturday"
- An event supports up to 5 reminders set as much as 4 weeks ahead; a task gets one
- A shared calendar shows the same tasks to everyone and records nothing about who cleaned
