Understanding Parent vs Child Roles
Learn the difference between Parent and Child roles in ChoreSplit
ChoreSplit has two roles: Parent and Child. Each role has different permissions and features.
Parent Role
Parents are administrators of the family. They can:
- Create and manage tasks — Add, edit, delete tasks
- Manage family members — Add, edit, remove members
- Create rewards — Set up rewards for points redemption
- View all statistics — See everyone's progress
- Verify completions — Approve photo verifications
- Manage settings — Configure family preferences
- Handle billing — Manage subscription (account owner)
Child Role
Children are task completers. They can:
- View assigned tasks — See tasks assigned to them
- Complete tasks — Mark tasks done, earn points
- Redeem rewards — Use points for rewards
- View leaderboard — See family rankings
- Build streaks — Track their own progress

Tips
- Every family needs at least one Parent
- Parents can also complete tasks and earn points
- Older kids who help manage can be Parents too
