Cozi vs ChoreSplit
Family Calendar vs AI-Verified Chores

Cozi organizes the family schedule and the shopping list. ChoreSplit does one thing instead: a child photographs the finished chore, AI checks the photo against what the chore asked for, and a parent keeps the final say. Plenty of families run both.

What is the difference between ChoreSplit and Cozi?

Cozi is a shared family calendar with lists and a light to-do feature attached — its job is knowing what the family is doing this week. ChoreSplit's job is narrower and deeper: getting a specific chore done and proven, with a photo the AI reviews against what the chore actually asked for before any points are awarded. Cozi has no point system, streaks, badges or leaderboards, and no AI; ChoreSplit has no meal planner or shopping list. They overlap in one small place — a task list — and diverge everywhere else.

Cozi

Family organizer / chore list app

Best for: Families whose main problem is the schedule: one calendar everyone can see, plus shopping and meal lists in the same place.

ChoreSplit

Chore management app with AI photo verification

Best for: Families whose main problem is that the chores don't get done, and who want proof and a motivation loop rather than another checkbox.

What does ChoreSplit do that Cozidoesn't?

Verify that a chore was actually done, and make a child want to do the next one. ChoreSplitasks for a photo, has AI review it against the chore, routes anything it isn't confident about to a parent, and turns the approved result into points, streaks and leaderboards. Cozi marks a chore complete when someone ticks the box.

How a chore gets marked done

Cozi: Cozi's chores are to-do items. Someone ticks the box; there is no verification step.

ChoreSplit: The child submits a photo, AI reviews it against what the chore asked for, and it auto-approves only above a confidence threshold the parent sets. Everything else lands in the parent's queue with the photo and the AI's reasoning.

AI features

Cozi: Cozi does not offer AI photo verification, AI chore suggestions or AI project generation.

ChoreSplit: All three: verification, chore suggestions drafted from a plain-text description of your household, and a 5-12 task project plan generated from an event and its date.

Motivation layer

Cozi: Cozi has no point system, streaks, badges, leaderboards or multipliers — it is a scheduling product, not a motivation one.

ChoreSplit: Points, streaks, achievement badges, family leaderboards and streak multipliers, with the points going toward real-world rewards a parent sets and grants.

The calendar itself

Cozi: A shared family calendar and shopping lists are what Cozi is built around, and it does them well.

ChoreSplit: ChoreSplit isn't trying to replace your family calendar. It syncs chores to Google Calendar so they sit next to soccer practice, and leaves meal planning and shopping lists to apps built for those.

Split households

Cozi: Cozi has co-parent access but no multi-household support.

ChoreSplit: Multi-household support for kids who split time between two homes — one set of chores and one point total across both.

ChoreSplit vs Cozi: feature by feature

Coziwins the rows this table doesn't cover — shared calendar, shopping and meal lists — because that is the product. ChoreSplit carries every AI row, every gamification row, and multi-household support. Neither app issues a debit card or holds money.

Do I have to leave Cozi to use ChoreSplit?

No — they solve different problems, so keeping both is a reasonable answer. Cozi exports calendar events as ICS but not chore data, so chores get recreated rather than imported. That takes about 15 minutes, and AI chore suggestions will draft most of the list from a plain description of your household.

Should I use Cozi or ChoreSplit?

Use Coziif the thing that keeps going wrong in your house is the schedule — who has practice, what's for dinner, what's on the shopping list. Use ChoreSplit if the thing that keeps going wrong is the chores: it verifies the work with an AI photo check, keeps a parent above every AI decision, and attaches points, streaks and rewards to the result. They are not substitutes, and running both is a perfectly sensible setup.
